Motor Vehicle Appraisal

Records the appraised value of a vehicle for PST. Use it when the vehicle is worth less than the Canadian Black Book average wholesale value, so PST can be based on the appraised value instead.

Used
At registration, or with a FIN 355/MV refund application
APV9T

Transfer/Tax Form (ICBC)

ICBC's form for transferring ownership of a vehicle. In BC it also serves as the bill of sale, recording the buyer, seller, vehicle, price and date, so you don't need a separate one. The seller fills in their part and signs it over, then the buyer brings it to an Autoplan broker to register the vehicle and pay PST.

PST refund application for vehicles

Used to ask the BC Ministry of Finance for a refund of PST you overpaid on a vehicle. If you registered without an appraisal and paid PST on the Black Book value, send this with your FIN 320. Order an appraisal after registering and we send you this form with it, already filled in.

Bulletin PST 308: PST on Vehicles

The province's guide to how PST applies to vehicles, including private sales, rates, appraisals and exemptions. A good reference if your situation is unusual.

Form numbers and versions change. Always use the current form from gov.bc.ca or ICBC. Gifts between certain family members may be PST-exempt; ask your Autoplan broker which forms apply.
